Johnny X aka Peter Gofton
does: guitars, drums, piano, handclaps, keyboard, knobs, percussion, and glaring in videos.
refuses to do: interviews
Trivia:
X was the quietest member of Kenickie, in that he's quiet because he doesn't talk much in interviews etc. I only remember him speaking on radio once: when he was talking on the Mark Radcliffe show about wordless vocalising, and the like.
He was also the oldest member of Kenickie, and the only boy. The next person to say he's a spare wheel will be kicked beyond mercy by Lauren, especially if you are NME journo twat/god Steven Wells.
He is a reformed punka.
His main 'ideological enemy' in the band is Marie, apparantly.
He used to sing 'Turning Japanese' in a Satanic voice while pretending to be the sex changing thing from Terrahawks at Lauren when they were children, thus scarring her for life.
He occasionally does live drumming for Mogwai, when they have 5 drummers and stuff.
He is quite a bit shorter than Lauren.
He has a degree in sociology.
X has chronic asthma and has to carry an inhaler around with him all of the time. All the rest of Kenickie also carried one.
He's the only one who uses his 'real' name in Kenickie.
He wouldn't live in London, although it meant he has to commute down there lots of times a week. At least last time I heard he wouldn't.
He has about a million quids worth of producing equipment in his attic. Or something.
The rest of Kenickie once murdered him and buried him under a patio in Newcastle
Hes also Frank Syntax, the Australian Frank Sinatra.
He has more obscure taste in records than Tim Gane Of Stereolab "fame".
He now plays in Chris with Lauren, DJ Downfall and Kris Ex Dweeb.
